  Dari-Pak
Dairi Pak Challenge - You Missed ItThe Arch

Taken from a report on Single Track's website.

On Saturday 4th May some hundred mountain bike riders took on the Dairi Pak Challenge west of Oswestry

The route was a way marked and marshalled 22mile off road charity event over some of the finest mountain biking terrain in Wales. Teams were expected to raise £20 pound minimum which was put forward to raise the cash for an Air Ambulance (you might need it one day).
Jelly beans and water were available at stations and the course included three monster climbs, a screaming descent and a VERY technical downhill, in a stream bed, on slanting rocks, over a big drop.
Kick off was 10.30am and yours truly took nearly 3 and a half hours.
Mountain bikers should really put it in their calendar for next year as it is highly recommended.

The annual Dairi-Pak Mountain Bike Challenge goes from strength to strength and is a major source of charitable funds.  Over 200 riders participated this year and the event needs to be organised with military precision to ensure smooth running and safety.  As always, members and supporting organisations respond cheerfully to this challenge ensuring a successful event.  About £9000 has been pledged as a result of the May 2005 Ride.

Mountain BikingThis trip is all about mountain biking, though non bikers are welcome to come and cheer their heroes on! The Dairi-Pak Mountain Bike Challenge is a sponsored bike ride through the Berwyn Mountains, organised by Oswestry Rotary Club. The course is about 20 miles in length over gentle terrain (you really are a gullible lot if you believe that), marshalled and with drink and sweetie stops. Expect to be very tired, wet and muddy by the end of the course. A large scrumptious buffet awaits the heroes on completion of the event, with plenty of chocolate cake and cheesecakes for the finishers. See this forum link for a bit more information.

If you wish to partake in this event you must pre-register and try to collect a minimum of £20 sponsorship money. Registration forms can be obtained from Jonathan Jones or by phone 01691 656980.
